Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, this entry will be slightly different. We are working with our Writing Standards on this assignment. You are going to create a story about being thankful. You will have to continue the story in the comment above yours. You will have to stay true to the style, format, plot, and characters as you understand them. You must, must MUST proof read what you've written to make sure it says what you want it to say, how you want to say it. The purpose is that we explore ELA11W1 The student produces writing that establishes an appropriate organizational structure, sets a context and engages the reader, maintains a coherent focus throughout, and signals a satisfying closure. Obviously the last person will have to provide closure, but you should look at all of your entries as an "episode" in the "series" you are creating. ELA11W2 The student demonstrates competence in a variety of genres. *The student produces narrative writing that applies polished narrative strategies acquired in previous grades, in other genres of writing such as reflective compositions, historical investigative reports, and literary analyses, by raising the level of critical thinking skills and rhetorical techniques.
*The student writes in informal writing contexts (e.g., journal keeping, imitation exercises, collaborative writing, and in-class responses) designed to provoke insightful responses, reactions, and observations to pertinent and timely ideas and issues. These informal writing contexts will help the students become increasingly aware of themselves as writers, of their role as citizen-participants in public discourse, and of the techniques employed by the writers they read.
*The student produces expository (informational) writing to explain an idea or concept and/or convey information and ideas from primary and secondary sources accurately and coherently, also applies as you will be creating a narrative. The first comment is the beginning of the story. The story must be resolved by Sunday November 21, 2010.
