My father often said to me, “Perception is reality.” usually in response to my observation that he wasn’t being fair.
It is important to be able to see things from another's perspective.
Write a letter to your teacher, me, as if you were the sub from yesterday. What would you tell me about our class, yourself, and what happened yesterday.

Dear Ms Farrell,
Yesterday this class acted like 3 year olds as a whole but individually it was some on task but the main problem was the table where allthe males was sitting. That was the main problem But if they had of got split up then the class would have as a whole been better but there was also a young man who wasnt suppose to be here. He was the main one being loud.
Even though I wasn't here I was with Miss Farrell.
Hi Miss Farrell,
Today your first was a good class they also helped me when I didn't understand their work. When I handed them their work sheets they did them with no problems and no back talk. But I did have a little problem with the dancing, it was fun though as I may say. The dancing didn't start into everyone was done with their work so it didn't disturb anyone from doing their work.
Your Sub,
Miss Woods
Dear Mrs.Farrell
I had no problems with these wonderful angels today. They kept quiet and did their work. There was some occasional talking in certain areas but overall they were wonderful class, maybe even the best class i had today. I would love to do it again. The table that did there work and turned it in was a boy named derick crosby and his table, even though their was a disrubtion that wasn;t suppose to be on here. But overall the class was great. I'll see you on your next busy day!
Demarco Really, Really Demarco!!!!!
Dear Mrs.Farrell,
Yesterday the class was okay. You had students who did the work and others who entertained each other and got no work accomplished at all. I really hope to have your class again .
Perception is reality... Hmm, sounds alot like my postmodernism project. In short, this means that one's perception of anything varies from how others view the same thing. I beleieve that the post i made prior to this(hero or villian) gives a great example of varying perceptions.
Dear Ms. Farrell,
While you were gone yesterday the class was not acting like high school students. The students were up walking around and moving about. At times the class would get very loud, but the noise level stayed moderate. Some students were loud, but others were doing work.
The Sub,
Miss Woods
Dear Ms. Farrel,
Today, your first block class's behavior was very atrocious and ridiculous. First off, the class was very loud and obnoxious, one of students was very loud with me, because I told the young lady to bequiet, so i wrote her up, i gave her plenty of chances, but she didnt listen. Well, after fifteen minutes of class, I told this young man to bequiet over and over again, so I told him I was going to write him up, but he "bucked" up at me and he called me words that sailors wouldn't even use he used words like "B***", "A**", "S***", he even called me a "Hoarder", whatever that means; I had to call the police to calm him down, I was scared for my life. Even though, those two students ruined my day but all the other students turned in their work, suprisingly. I wouldn't mind having this class again as long as those "individuals" aren't in the classroom.
Dear Mrs.Farrell,
As I was subbing for your class, there was a very large number of students who were off task the entire class period. There were also others who worked quietly and gave me no problems. Overall the class was okay, but I do believe they need more discipline.
Sincerely,
Mrs.Woods
Ms. Farrell,
Yesterday your class spent most of their time talking, but they did get their work done. Some of them anyways. Others just sat around and done nothing. But the class stayed under control. I enjoyed watching your class.
Ms. Woods.
im not demarco...im Mrs.Woods
Dear Ms. Farrell
Your class was very respectable yesterday. They listened to everything i had to say and embraced it very quickely. The one student i must pick out of the group was Louvennia Jefferson. She was very well behaved and acted as if she was a scholar. She work on her essay all day and did a wonderful job. But overall your class was a great class.
P.S would not mind substitute your class again
Dear Ms.Farrell,
Your 2nd block class were ok they weren't disrespectful and they didn't get out of hand. But i did have to speak kendarius a couple of times but he listened and got beck on track. I would love to come back and sub for you anytime.
Ms. Farrell
If I was to rate your class on a scale of 1-10 I would give yours a 7. The reason being is that these random people kept coming in the room that were not a part of the classroom. Especially the girl because all she does is talk and leave out your back door. Most of the classroom was doing their work especially that young guy name Christopher Brown. When I first came in the classroom, he came in and said "Good morning Ms. Woods" and that made my day. But at the end of class it was chaotic. Everyone was just taking out their cellphones, talking out loud, and cursing. But still they got their work done. I hope for the opportunity of teaching this class again except the 2nd block
Even Though I Was At One Act (: '
Dear Ms.Farrell ,
Your Second Block Class Behavior Was Very Good.I Could Tell That I Was In A AP Class. They Got Their Work Done And Had Very Little Conversation. They Were Very Respectful .
I Would Love Too Sub For Your Class Again.
Sincerley ,
Miss Woods
Dear Ms. Farrell,
My experience with your second block class has left me in a state of awe and disgust. They are loud, immature, and completely detracted. The entire time, I was under the impression that I would be teaching advanced eleventh grade students. After I departed, I felt as though I had been teaching mentally deficient monkeys.
I feel that allowing them to use laptops during class is the root of this evil. Youtube and Facebook were used more than Google. After my experiences with these unruly children, my willingness to be a substitute at Spencer has become null and void.
The only redeeming factor was a student named Jordan Helton. He was completely on task the entire time, and finished all of his work with finesse and diligence. He is a credit to this institution, and you should be proud to have him in your presence.
Yours Truly,
Ms. Wood
Ms. Farrell,
Yesterday your 2nd block class was ok. It wasn't the best class I've ever subbed but they weren't horrible. There were a few talkers and I'm sure you know who they are but over all they were pretty ok. I wouldn't mind subbing for you again if you ever need me.
Signed,
Mrs. Woods
Dear Ms. Farrell,
My name is Ms. Woods. Your AP class was somewhat off task yesterday. Some were laughing and some were working very diligently. I told them over and over to get to work. I am able to count on one hand for the students who were on task. I expected more from an AP class.
Sincerely,
Ms. Woods
In reference to One act. *Extra Credit.:)
Dear Mrs. Farrell,
I feel like one act went well over all. I feel that the judge's perception on our performance was probably suprised, since everyone expects Spencer to be ghetto and unprepared. They probably were waiting for us to just come out of no where and start rapping. So everything basically went well.
Ms. Farrell,
As a whole 2nd block was well behaved, on task and respectful to my requests. The only complaint I would make about this group of students is they have a slight tendency, when given the permission to talk, to increase in volume; so with the exception of a few "you need to keep it down," they were pretty good.
Willing to come again,
Ms. Woods
Dear Mrs. Farrell,
I subbed for your class yesterday they were good. There was alot of talking but I didnt have to ask them to be quiet more than once. They were better than most of the other classes Ihave had at spencer high school. It could have been worst.
Sincerly , Mrs Woods
Dear Ms.Farrell,
While I was subbing for your second block incredibly rude to me. When i asked them to put up there cell phones they refussed to. They were out of control. Students were just getting up and walking in and out of class with out a pass. The way those students behaved truly made think of going back into retirement. They need to mental help. I refuse to ever subsitute for this class again.
Truly,
Mrs.Woods
Dear Ms.Farrell,
Your second block class was okay. They did there work and turned everything in before class ended. I had to call in Mr.Tucker for a few students who refused to give up their cell phones and mp3 players. You however had the three best students in class; they were Sarah Hartzog, Jordan Helton, and Rico Dunn. They were nice and polite to the others and myself. I would love to sub for your class again.
From,
Mrs.Woods
I was sufficently displeased with the behavior of your first block class. Although i cannot completely deny that they were working. I would have been very appreciative if i hadn't had to repeated tell them to stay on task. They weren't terribly loud but they were very conversational; and the topic of their conversations weren't "work" related.
Miss Woods
To Ms. farrell
i have one word for 1st Block. RIDICULOUS..... the class was out of control, people where talking, and they looked at me like i was a push over. i had people constantly asking to go to the bathroom, even though they didnt need to. i had people talking about non related things that wasnt part of the work scheduale u had ask them to do. even though they looked like good students when ur here, they are totally different when you live. Im guessing you have their respect, so the next time i sub, im goin to make those kids respect me, not as an adult but as a Teacher.
Dear Mr. Farrell,
Yesterday your class was exceptionally well. There were a lot of instances in which the students were out of control but overall they had satisfactory behavior. At the begeinning of the class the students were unaware of what they had to do so that is why so many of them were off task to start with. After I told them what their assignments were most of them actually did what they were told to do, but there were a few students who chose to do their own thing. I did not have any fall outs with the students. None of them were disrespectful in any way. I actually would not mind subbing for you again. P.S. Your second block was way better than the first class that came in this morning.
Thank You,
Ms. Woods.
Dear Ms. Farrell,
Today's class can be described as unruly and distrbing. I felt as if I were teaching a middle school class. the students were using profane words, and acting like wild animals on a playground.
If other substitutes asked how are the students at Spencer high, the best answer would I could say is they are a hand full.
Dear MS.Farrell,
your first block class, for the most part, did not do their work, some were drawing while others were writing about an unrelated topic. As to be expected some talked all class and some completed their work
-The sub
Dear Ms. Farrell,
Your 2nd block class was great behavior wise. The only problem i had was that they were not completing the work. The talking level was very low and nobody got out of hand. I would love to sub for you again.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Woods
Perception is reality means the way things are viewed. Say for instance if the band was playing a song and i thought they sounded wonderful, but the band director thinks they sounded a mess, his perception was totally different from mine. I guess my perception was just a fly on the wall in his reality:)
Dear Mrs.Farrell,
Unfortunately I was not in class this day because Mrs.Webb pulled me out of class once again. Even though i was not in there im sure they acted like they always do when your not there.
Dear Ms. Farrell,
Let me start off by saying that your class was pretty okay. For the most part i was on their backs for the whole class period and being to clingy; so they would not be able to do what they want. But of course, your class being peculiar and all, ended up doing what they wanted to do anyway. At some points i saw footprints on the wall and was wondering how the HECK did it get up there? Anywho, you're class is not normal, and some did their work while others entertained themselves in extraordinary ways. I don't think i can deal with this class again.
Ms. Woods
Dear Ms.Farrell,
You have such wonderful and behave kids. I was most impressed by their time management skills and motivation to stay on task and get their work done just as you asked. I wouldn't even consider saying i'll get back to you if asked to sub for you again, you have my word. I really enjoyed myself in each block. I hope to return very soon.
P.S. I was looking forward to seeing Ammie she's my favorite student here at Spencer, but I understand you all had a one act competition. You have all my wishes I know you'll do good.
Dear Ms. Farrell,
I remember your second block being okay. They did talk a little too much, but they kept it to a nice level, so it wasn't that big of a deal. They were working on different tasks at the time, but the kids still got their work done. I actually felt great about the class that day because they wasn't acting like they normally do. If they keep it at that rate, I wouldn't mind coming back and subbing.
Sincerely,
Ms. Woods
Dear Mrs. Farrell
The student yesterday were completely disrespectful and did not even start on their work. Couple of them did as they were told and successfully finished their work. I was surprised that your 2nd block acted like this. Although the lack of concentration I would still sub for your class again.
