Okay Ladies and Gentlemen, this entry will be slightly different. We are working with our Writing Standards on this assignment. You are going to create a story about being thankful. You will have to continue the story in the comment above yours. You will have to stay true to the style, format, plot, and characters as you understand them. You must, must MUST proof read what you've written to make sure it says what you want it to say, how you want to say it. The purpose is that we explore ELA11W1 The student produces writing that establishes an appropriate organizational structure, sets a context and engages the reader, maintains a coherent focus throughout, and signals a satisfying closure. Obviously the last person will have to provide closure, but you should look at all of your entries as an "episode" in the "series" you are creating. ELA11W2 The student demonstrates competence in a variety of genres. *The student produces narrative writing that applies polished narrative strategies acquired in previous grades, in other genres of writing such as reflective compositions, historical investigative reports, and literary analyses, by raising the level of critical thinking skills and rhetorical techniques.
*The student writes in informal writing contexts (e.g., journal keeping, imitation exercises, collaborative writing, and in-class responses) designed to provoke insightful responses, reactions, and observations to pertinent and timely ideas and issues. These informal writing contexts will help the students become increasingly aware of themselves as writers, of their role as citizen-participants in public discourse, and of the techniques employed by the writers they read.
*The student produces expository (informational) writing to explain an idea or concept and/or convey information and ideas from primary and secondary sources accurately and coherently, also applies as you will be creating a narrative. The first comment is the beginning of the story. The story must be resolved by Sunday November 21, 2010.

I know that self pity is a waste of time. I know that I have a lot to be thankful for, good friends, a family who loves me, a roof over my head, but none of that helps me ignore the lump sitting in my throat or the burning in my stomach. I am no one's favorite; I am not picked first again. I sigh as I unlock the door to the apartment, "I'm home!" I yell to no one, because as usual, there is no one there.
I check the mail to kill some time because there really isn't anything on TV. There's a card for me in an orange envelope. Someone sent me a card, in the mail? I looked, but there is no return address. As I walk back to the apartment, I look at the letter. I don't know if I want to open it. Closed this letter could be anything, opened it becomes whatever it is. I tap it against my hand; it feels heavier than it should. Maybe there is money in it! I sit on the sofa and hold it up to the light, but I can't see through the envelope. The writing doesn't trigger any memory, not that I see much handwriting. With cell phones and texting, what's the point of writing anyway? I slide a nail under the flap and it springs free to reveal a card, like you buy at Hallmark or something. All I can think over and over is how bizarre it is that I got a card.
To my dismay the weight of the envelope didn't result from a small bundle of cash lodged inside. The extra weight was added by the battery and vocal technology that had been attached by the cards company. Upon activating the audio attachment the identity of the sender became crystal clear, the reasoning behind the message was still, however, unknown. I hadn't acctually heard anything from the sender in quite sometime, so their sending me the card added to the mystery of why it had been sent.
You've gotten WAY Off track. Everyone between me and this post and Crystal need to delete or rework their submission. Look back at the assignment, look back at the first two entries, see where you went wrong. PS you all, Crystal included, needed to create a longer post.
Ms. Farrell so are you saying for everyone above to start over. If so, shouldn't I be the second part of the round robin?

As I looked at the card it said:
"Dear Tevin,
You've been invited to a Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday at the Libre Center. The dinner begins at 7:00pm. You may bring one guess. It will be a wonderful event. Also, there will be a guest speaker."
I was in a joyous mood even though I had no clue of the sender. I haven't been invited to anything in such a manner. So therfore, I decided that I will attend the dinner. . . .alone! I had no family member, friend, or associate to tag along with. My mood dimmed a bit. What shall I do.
Good job Jarvis getting back on track! Good job as well with continuing the tone and mood.
I glanced at the clock. It was 4:30. I have only a few hours, i better get ready. I went to look what to wear. I started to narrow down my choices and ended up with two choices left. A James Bond like tux, from who I thank my deceased father, or a purple suit that i dont remember buying. Which one to wear. I pondered for 15 minutes and decided ...
What should I do indeed, I didn't know anyone to bring for the dinner this Saturday. I opened the door to my room and threw myself on my bed sighing in disarray. 'Everyone I know is busy this weekend, and my family will being doing their own Thanksgiving dinner with other people this year,' as I thought to myself. I reach into my pocket to grab my phone, so that I could check if I had any new text. And just to my suprise I had one under read message from someone, but I didn't recognize the number that had sent it.
So I texted back saying "Who is this?" To my surprise the text came back so suddenly, I was at aww with the use of technology, but anyway that still didn't mean I have a date for the dinner. The message replied saying,"This is Lisa." I was shocked at the discovering of this, Lisa was this girl I knew all during my sophomore year, but she moved to Ireland at the end of the year, I was so sad. I suddenly had an Gastronomical idea, what if I could take her to the dinner on Saturday. Well after I finally added her to my phone I texted back to her saying.
Lisa What a sudden suprise how are you doing, Well I hope. Thinking to myself How much I dont want to beat around the bush with asking her to the dinner, I decided to give her a call. Ring.... Ring.... Hello. The sweet and melodious voice I have always known you to have Lisa. I say to jump start the conversation. Ha ha haaa. Tevin you have always known how to make me laugh and to answer your text I have been just fine and Highly favored. I just wanted to keep in touch with you since im in town for the holidays. Says Lisa. DING DING DING DINNNNGGGGGG The perfect oppurtunity I think to myself But

to our suprise it was like a formal...something like a ball. I was thinking to myself that i was pretty thankful that i wore a nice tux because you never know what predicament you may be in. I more than glad that i'm not stuck going at it alone. I was thinking how i'm so lucky to have a friend like Lisa. I as i started making my way through the beautiful room, i noticed that Lisa wasn't right by my side...i turned around and walked back towards her and saw that she seemed to be stumped with bewilderment because
I had previously expressed my metaphysical dilemmas with her. Was I a tad bit to vivid on details? Does she now see me in a different light? Before I could apologize for making her feel in anyway uncomfortable, they asked for everyone to be seated and give our undivided attention to the guest speaker. I didn't want to come off as being defiant,so instead of speaking I led her to a vacant table near the center of the room.

As i led her to the empty table, i had a brilliant idea.... I told her to sit down and relax, and that i was goin to refresh myself. As i hear the guess speaker talking how thankful he was that everybody was able to make it, i snuck in the kitchen and ask the chief to make lisa's favorite meal.(Cheese cake/spaghitti/ peach wine) As i came back to the table lisa was looking at me kinda weird. so i explained everything to her. i explained how my family counldnt make it and how she was my last resort.
